of Belgian manufacture circa 1890, with octagonal 2 3/4in. barrel, crescent fore-sight, the top-flat signed 'I. HOLLIS & SONS, LONDON', the top-strap with central sighting groove marked alongside 'ENGLISH BULL-DOG', solid frame with hinged loading gate, fluted five-shot cylinder, hinged ejector rod mounted within the cylinder arbor, double action mechanism with guarded trigger and chequered walnut birdshead grips, the whole retaining nearly all its original nickel-plated finish
